On Friday 7th August, a night glow of 12 hot air balloons took place in Henbury. Organised by local balloonists Craig and Mandy Thompson, they invited all their pilot friends to come along, enjoy the barbecue and glow their balloons at dusk. Friends watching were in ‘bubble groups’ and it took much longer to organise than it usually would due to social distancing guidelines. Raising money for charity, all donations made are going to Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal for Bristol Children’s Hospital. Visit the JustGiving page for more info and if you’d like to support a great cause. We (MJ Ballooning) were in charge of recording and editing the video. Click here to watch on YouTube! Also see the Bristol Live article here. The SM Gauge and Ben’s Tiles balloons were centre stage, operated by Craig and Mandy; you probably recognise them from regularly flying over the city. Bristol favourite the Panther was also in attendance alongside Bateman Skips, BWS Standfast 105 and 31 hopper, the Bristol balloon, Silverline and Wind Beneath My Wings. In the other field was Exclusive Ballooning demonstrator G-OOEY, G-BPUB orange hopper and G-BXUW. The night ended with a spectacular ten minute firework display by Skyburst! Here are some photos.
