Cameron Balloons completed build of the Piper, Cameron Pipe-105, in 1997 and it is regarded as one of the greatest special shape hot air balloons of all time. Original creator and pilot Muir said in 1997 TV interview, “𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨. 𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙘𝙤𝙩𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙥𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚.” The aim in bringing him back to Bristol is to do exactly that, as Muir wants - display him to put a smile on people’s faces. He possibly needs some minor restoration work and has been sat in the bag for a long time so will be inflated as soon as possible. Words cannot describe how special it is for us to be assisting Ian and Flying Enterprises with the Piper. It will be a pleasure to see him again this season, and in future years, to bring back those memories so many of you have of this great, 150ft tall Scotsman. | ^Image courtesy and copyright Gary Morris^ |
